Where to eat in New York City

In honor of my departure from the big apple and moving back home to Puerto Rico, I have finally decided to write up a post on where to eat in the city. Deciding where to eat in New York can be a struggle because there are so many good and cool places to eat! But lucky for you, I've got you the inside scoop of where to eat and the must haves.

Barbounia (Mediterranean) : Looking a fun, delicious and turn up brunch spot? Look no more and definitely check out Barbounia! It is perfect for birthdays because they turn up the music and bring out a dessert with sparkles as everyone sings happy birthday. I recommend getting a bunch of appetizers, including the Hummus, Labneh, Crispy Calamari & Saganaki.

Sant Ambroeus (Italian) : This is a CLASSIC for brunch, highly recommended! You can go to get a cup of coffee, but if you decide to stay you MUST get the eggs benedict if you like salty food, or the pancakes if you have more of a sweet tooth. They are both amazing options!

Buvette (French) : This is probably the best breakfast I had in NYC. It's a super cute french bistro that offers French pastries & amazing breakfast plates. I've tried the Croque Madame & Ouefs Jambon Cru & they're both are out of this world.

Two Hands (Australian) : BEST AVOCADO TOAST IN THE CITY! This Australian gem is my go to place for a healthy delicious breakfast or lunch. They close at 5PM, so if you want to go make sure you go before then!

Sadelles : Very upscale bagel place in Soho! Not an ideal price for a bagel but I'm not kidding you these are the best bagels I've had. The way to go here is to get the Sadelle's Tower to share & try all the different bagel toppings. My favorite toppings are the egg salad, house salmon & white fish salad, literally life changing!

Balthazar : Classic NY spot in the heart of Soho! You can go for brunch, lunch or dinner the food is good 24/7!

Cafe Cortadito (Cuban) : Super fun and cool brunch spot in the Lower East Side. It's a tiny place that serves delicious cuban food & unlimited mimosas for $31.95 each while blasting your favorite latin hits!

Sunday In Brooklyn : Everything here is delicious! The vibes are very Brooklyn & hipster! I got the burger and the cinnamon bun and it was sooo good.

Piccola Cucina (Italian) : This is my favorite spot in the city, I take everyone that visits me here and it's probably the restaurant that I've been the most in NYC. They have three locations in the city, but my favorite is Estiatorio because for dinner during the weekends they blast out music and it turns into a party! If you go with a friend, make sure to get the Alla Norma pasta and the Cacio e Pepe and mix them both together! Me and by bestie @newyoricanfoodie do that when we go together and it's legit the best pasta mix I've had. Additionally, the Osteria location has a lunch special of $11 any pasta!

La Esquina (Mexican) : Another fave of mine! For me personally this is the best Mexican restaurant in the city. You can eat in three different parts of the restaurant, they have a section where you can order your tacos, elotes, guac etc. and eat them right there like a food truck. They have another section where you can formally sit for lunch and dinner and THEN they have the speakeasy downstairs which is extremely trendy and cool. The speakeasy is only open for dinner and reservations have to be made 2 weeks in advance! I recommend you get rib eye, carnitas or fish tacos, queso fundido, guac & obviously a margarita!

Mermaid Oyster Bar : FAVORITE HAPPY HOUR SPOT! From 5-7PM they have $1.25 oysters, $8 cocktails, $8 wine, $5 beer and discounted appetizers. I love their fried calamari & fish tacos!

Lure Fishbar : Love this restaurant for some good sushi and seafood! The vibes are really cool because it feels like you are in a yacht. The crispy sushi rice with spicy tuna, tempura shrimp & the hell fire roll are a must!!

Mercer Kitchen : Perfect for celebrity sightings! Very upscale trendy spot in the heart of Soho. Everything in this restaurant is delicious!

Stanton Social : Went there for my 24th birthday and it was perfect! It's an American restaurant that serves small plates so it's perfect for sharing a bunch of appetizers and they have amazing cocktails.

Pizza Beach: Very fun pizza place to go with a group of friends! Pizzas are amazing and they have cocktail pitchers that are amazing, my favorite one is the spicy margarita! Perfect for birthdays & turns into a party at night.

Boqueria (Spanish) : Very good restaurant for spanish tapas and the sangria is 10/10!

The Standard East Village: The vibes in this place are really cool! It has outdoor seating, which is perfect for when there's good weather. Go with a group of girlfriends, have some prosecco and share some apps! The crispy calamari are REALLY good.

Kotobuki : My favorite neighborhood sushi place!! Definitely going to miss this one. Finding good sushi in the city for me was hard and this place is a gem. The sushi pizza is out of this world and they have a good variety of specialty rolls with really good prices!

Momoya : Another one of my favorite sushi spots! Sushi here is really fresh, but there's not much as variety as Kotobuki!

Llama Inn (Peruvian) : Really cool spot in Brooklyn with the freshest fish and a lot of flavor in all their plates!

Cecconi's : Has an amazing view of the Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo, Brooklyn! Great spot in the summer to sit outside and eat pizza, pasta, apps, prosecco and appreciate the beautiful view.

Lilia : Ok guys, before going to this restaurant I thought I had the best pasta at Piccola Cucina, but the pasta here is just out of this world, WOW! I had the "sheeps milk cheese filled agnolotti", my friend had the "mafaldini" and we shared the artichoke and it was 10/10. Reservations are a nightmare here so make sure to reserve a month in advance!

Pio Pio 8 (Peruvian) : Recommended if you want to go somewhere to eat before a Broadway Show! I've had the ceviche, lomo saltado & rotisserie chicken here and they are reaaaallyyyy good!

Casa Adela (Puerto Rican) : Cute Puerto Rican hole in the wall restaurant serving the best rotisserie chicken and it's BYOB! You won't go wrong with anything you order here. Cash only though!

If you are ever in NYC and need tips, recos or anything don't hesitate in sending me a DM :)
